1. Who we are
Auralise Ltd ("Auralise", "we", "us", "our") is a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17307010, registered office at 31 Salteye Road, Eccles, Greater Manchester, M30 7PJ, United Kingdom.
We are registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as a data controller, registration number CSN0203625.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal data when you use VoluMe (the "App"), our website at auralise.net, and related services (together, the "Service").

2. What personal data we collect
2.1 Account information
When you sign in with Google, we receive and store:
- Your name, email address, and profile picture, as provided by Google
- A unique account identifier
- The date you created your account and your subscription status
2.2 Listening and usage data
To provide the personalised listening profile feature, we process:
- Volume adjustment events and timing during playback, used to build your personalised sound profile
- Which tracks you play, when, and for how long
- Device and session information needed to keep the app working correctly
2.3 Payment information
Payments are processed entirely by Stripe, Inc. We do not directly receive, store, or have access to your full card details. We receive limited billing information from Stripe necessary to manage your subscription, including your subscription tier, billing status, and transaction history.
2.4 Musician submissions
If you submit music as a musician, we additionally collect your artist name, biography, country, genre, and the audio files you upload, along with metadata about your submissions and any royalty payments owed to you.
2.5 Marketing and communications
If you sign up for early access updates via our coming-soon page, we collect your email address and, if provided, your name, in order to send you our onboarding email sequence and occasional updates about Auralise. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email, or by visiting auralise.net/unsubscribe.html.
2.6 Information you provide directly
If you contact us by email, we keep a record of that correspondence, including your email address and the content of your message.
3. How we use your data
We use personal data for the following purposes:
- To create and manage your account and authenticate you via Google sign-in
- To build and apply your personalised sound profile during playback
- To process subscription payments and manage your billing relationship via Stripe
- To operate the musician portal, including reviewing submissions and calculating royalty payments
- To send you transactional emails relating to your account (welcome emails, trial expiry notices, submission approval/rejection notices)
- To send you marketing emails if you have signed up for them, which you may unsubscribe from at any time
- To maintain the security, integrity, and proper functioning of the Service
- To comply with our legal obligations, including tax, accounting, and regulatory requirements
4. Legal basis for processing (UK GDPR)
We rely on the following legal bases under the UK General Data Protection Regulation:
- Contract: processing necessary to provide the Service you have signed up for, including account management, the personalised listening feature, and subscription billing
- Consent: for marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time
- Legitimate interests: for security, fraud prevention, and improving the Service, balanced against your rights and freedoms
- Legal obligation: where we must retain records for tax, accounting, or regulatory purposes
5. Who we share data with
We share personal data only with the following categories of recipient, and only as necessary to operate the Service:
- Google LLC — for authentication via Google Sign-In
- Stripe, Inc. — for payment processing and subscription management
- Cloudflare, Inc. — for hosting, content delivery, and file storage (Cloudflare R2)
- Render Services, Inc. — for backend application hosting
- Resend — for sending transactional and marketing emails
- Anthropic, PBC — for AI-assisted features such as content generation tools used internally by Auralise (this does not involve processing your personal listening data)
We do not sell personal data to third parties. We do not share your data with advertisers.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK or European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where this occurs, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms recognised under UK data protection law.
6. How long we keep your data
- Account data: retained for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards to allow account recovery and to meet legal obligations
- Listening/profile data: retained for as long as your account is active, to maintain your personalised sound profile
- Payment records: retained for the period required by UK tax law, currently six years from the end of the relevant accounting period
- Marketing email addresses: retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion
- Musician submission records and royalty ledgers: retained for the duration of the musician relationship and for the period required by accounting law thereafter
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data, subject to our legal obligations to retain certain records
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
- Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you believe your data has been mishandled

8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all data in transit, secure password and session token handling, and access controls limiting who within Auralise can access personal data. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted to us.
9. Children
The Service is not directed at, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from, children under the age of 16. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under this age without appropriate consent, we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. If changes are significant, we will notify you by email or via the App.
